Winter Fashion

Christmas is around the corner, and that means bundling up for the cold weather, dressing up for holiday parties, and buying pajamas for those lazy days when you drink hot chocolate and sit next to the fireplace. The key to being fashionable during the winter is knowing the trends, keeping up with the weather, and having a few bold pieces to make your outfits stand out, while still having the basics to mix and match.

If you want to keep up with the trends this winter, here are a few suggestions. Although turtlenecks are still in style, mock necks are on the rise since it is finally cold enough to wear. Silk tank tops are really in right now as well as wearing a thin tank top over a long sleeve shirt.

When you have a cute outfit it can be instantly ruined when you step outside and realize you are super cold, but a bulky jacket can ruin an outfit. Some cute options are puffer jackets, jean jackets, and big, cozy cardigans. A puffer jacket is better for a more casual outfit. A cute pair of jeans and tee shirt will look best paired with a puffer jacket. They come in many colors but I would recommend navy blue since it is a neutral color that will go with anything. Here is a perfect example (pic left) of one from Hollister.

Another option is a jean jacket. This look is cute with leggings and a tank top, or pretty much anything. There is a jean jacket sold at Abercrombie that is perfect for winter. Not only is it cute but it has a Sherpa lining inside for extra warmth which adds a unique touch.

A big warm cardigan is another cute idea. This works with either a casual outfit or even a dress or romper. One can find many patterned cardigans or simple ones at Abercrombie.

This cardigan (pictured to the right) would look really pretty and put together over a maroon dress.

A cropped, cowel neck, cable knit sweater paired with the cable knit skirt is casual enough to wear to the mall or a party, but is bold enough to radiate confidence and stand out. The next picture (bottom right) idea is a eye catching twist on a simple sweater. It is distressed and stands out but is also casual.

The last thing to do to achieve the perfect winter fashion is to have the basics to create a base for your outfits. A couple sweaters, flannels, booties, over the knee boots, and skinny jeans should do it.

As you can see, there are many components to being comfy as well as cute during the winter. However, it is a fun process to go shopping for the right clothes and put together outfits. Have fun creating the perfect look!
