Senior year has been a whirlwind of emotions. Until we all know what our future holds, emotions like stress will continue to be be a force. There are some ways to give your mind a mini vacation during this crazy time.

1) BREATHE. Of course, this seems to be the stereotypical answer when it comes to the frantic question "what do I do?!" My aunt, who is a registered Yoga Instructor and Therapist, claims that “breathing at a consistent rate decreases blood pressure, ultimately leading to internal stability and inner peace.”

2) STOP WORRYING.

Easier said than done, right? Well, maybe not. My aunt further states that a lot of your stress is just mental. When something bad happens, we tend to exaggerate the situation and create more stress for ourselves. Instead of doing this, stop. Take a couple steps back. What good is worrying going to do? Nothing. “The power of the mind is pretty incredible,” my aunt says, “if you tell yourself you’re okay, you will be. Just have confidence in your abilities to succeed, and stop the worrying. Worry brings nothing but more distress to your life".

3) Invest yourself in things that make YOU happy. It’s always good to have some personal time in which you can actually do things that bring you joy. Whether it be running, singing, dancing, a sport, playing a musical instrument . . . DO IT. Sometimes life is crazy busy that we neglect everything that brings us the very motivation to do what we need to do. My aunt states, “You have to devote yourself to blocking out time to do stuff that makes you HAPPY.”

4) Whatever happens in the end, it's for your greater good. Every choice and decision you have made at this point in your life has already shaped your future and IT’S GOING TO WORK OUT. Your college experience is going to be WHAT YOU MAKE IT, the college will NOT make you. Choose to make your experience worth it. This is the next stage of your life, and you are so capable of everything that is coming your way!
