Enter a new generation of Pokémon with new characters to discover, creatures to catch, and areas to explore! The Pokémon team announced that they would be releasing a game titled “Pokémon Sun and Moon” on November 18 to celebrate their franchise’s 20th anniversary. This game will be available on the Nintendo 3DS and can be purchased at a GameStop or on shopping websites such as Amazon. Many Pokémon fans, such as Cole Pribble, are not only excited for this new game, but also for the future of the series. “Yeah, I’m excited,” Pribble says. “Because of the 20th anniversary, there will be tons of new surprises, such as easter eggs and hopefully a hit for a fourth generation.” With the rise of Pokémon in the recent months, partly due to the success of Pokémon Go, many new people are excited to see what is in store.

Like previous installments, this game follows a similar story-line to what we expect. You and your character set out on a quest to find new Pokémon while defeating other trainers and taking down evil corporations in the newly introduced Aloha Region. This game's setting is based of Hawaii, a departure from the usual Japanese based settings. In this new game, you will encounter over 50 new species of Pokémon and their evolutions, for a total of approximately 543 new Pokémon!
Even though this game may seem a bit similar to previous games, Nintendo announced brand new features that are going to be added to the game. Enhanced and improved 3D polygonal graphics are to make the game visually look modern, more interactive, and dynamic during Pokémon battles while still retaining the old style of the game. Z-Moves are powerful moves used once per battle, combining the strength of both trainer and Pokémon to unleash a strong attack leaving your opponent speechless. Players can now customize and create their own character instead of using the generic male or female models, giving the player more personalization in the game. Rumors are spreading of vehicles being added to the game to make transportation easier. Battle performances are being updated and new training mechanics will be added to make the game easier for new players.
This new installment of Pokémon has old fans and newcomers alike excited for the direction of the franchise. So prepare yourself to “catch them all” as you go out “to be the best like no one ever was!”
