Einstein’s Dreams, a remarkable novel written by Alan Lightman. This work of fiction is beautifully written with a comical stance and imaginative outlook, showing the processes of Albert Einstein’s dreams as a young scientist working on his Theory of Relativity. Each of the thirty chapters in the book portray a different dream. These dreams describe scenarios that humans have related to time, showing how the laws of time apply under different conditions and how people live around them. After every condition there is a description on how life would be.
The swift words of this book leave you in awe. For example, in chapter two, Lightman says, “In this world, time is like a flow of water, occasionally displaced by a bit of debris, a passing breeze.” The authors diction involves several similes. In this particular quote, he compares time to nature which could infer how delicate he considers time to be. Lightman demonstrates every dream with their own unique power, enabling the readers to fall in love with the book. Reading this novel will awaken a desire to learn more about the different theories of the world and in addition, learn about influential people who have made an impact on the way we think today because having knowledge on these concepts is important.
