A night full of mystery, romance, and a whole lot of dancing. That's right folks, I'm talking about homecoming! Although, it may have quickly come and gone, I think we could all agree that it was a very memorable experience. Whether your favorite part was spirit week, the pep rally, the game, or the dance itself, I will be reviewing all four parts!

Spirit Week- All Comanches were given the opportunity to show off their school spirit by participating daily! It was kicked off with a very patriotic ‘Merica Monday where students wore American colors or symbols. Next was Tourist Tuesday--a day when many Comanches brought out their fanny packs and sport socks with sandals. Woke up Like This Wednesday, my personal favorite, was represented by PJs and slippers! Later in the week was Class Color Thursday, the day of our pep rally! Students were encouraged to wear their class colors (Seniors wore red, Juniors wore blue, Sophomores wore green, and Freshman wore purple) and represent their classes during the assembly. The last day of spirit week was Fashion Disaster Friday. Students wore funky patterns, or mismatched clothing. The entire week was fun to both participate in and see!

The next exciting event was the pep rally. As a sophomore, I went to the first assembly with the Freshmen. There, we competed to be the louder class and were able to gain points for our classes by playing games. Fall sports presented dances that they had been working on, which were very fun to watch! ASB also showed a promo video for homecoming and announced the homecoming princes, princesses, and king! Our Homecoming King was Pasha Eftekharian!

Friday night was Canyon's Homecoming Game. Before the game, Tribal Council and ASB arrived at 4 P.M. to prepare everything for the big night. Tribal Council's main job was to prepare the freshman and sophomore floats that were to carry the nominees for Homecoming Queen. Everyone helped pitch in to create carts that looked beautiful in the end! The game began against El Modena, and unfortunately, we ended up losing but the Comanches did not let that get them down, and still showed great school spirit! At the game, the highly anticipated announcement of the Queen was finally given. Our homecoming queen was Nina Weiner! The game was a blast despite losing and with it came many memories that I will never forget.

Finally, the big night! Homecoming has finally come. My friends and I decided to get ready together. Upon finishing, we had dinner and then left to the Oak Canyon Nature Center to take pictures together. This year was my first homecoming. It was a really great experience that was accompanied by great music, dancing, arcade games, and a photo stand. A guest, Deanna Soto, a senior at Aliso Niguel High School, said “This is so fun! I wish I could have come to Canyon's Homecoming before!” Deanna also couldn't stop going on about how she loved the music and the games. Leaving was a bummer, but it was a very great time and I will cherish this experience forever.
