Baseball season is finishing up as we reach the end of September. The playoffs will soon begin in early October with many teams fighting for a piece of the action. Many teams such as the Chicago Cubs, Washington Nationals, Cleveland Indians, Texas Rangers, and Los Angeles Dodgers have pretty much clinched a spot in the playoffs. However, not all teams can be this successful. The remaining teams will try to fight for a wild card spot.

The American League Wild Card Race is becoming very intense as three American League East teams are leading in the Wild Card Race. The Baltimore Orioles and Toronto Blue Jays are leading the race as the New York Yankees trail behind. Reigning American League MVP Josh Donaldson will try to lead his team back into the playoff again with his enormous power and fielding. Gary Sanchez of the New York Yankees is tearing it in the Bronx, as he has collected twelve home runs since his MLB debut on August 16th, 2016. He will try to lead his hungry team to Wild Card spot. They are currently sitting at 77-67 and the Orioles and Blue Jays sit at 79-65. I strongly believe the Orioles and Blue Jays will both take the Final two spots in the American League.

The San Francisco Giants who play in the National League, currently lead the wild card with a record of 77-67. The second wild card spot currently belongs to the World Series runner ups the New York Mets, who currently have a 77-68 record. Hopefully the sluggers Yoenis Cespedes and Jay Bruce can lead the Mets back into the playoffs. The St. Louis Cardinals are third in the race and are fighting desperately to take the wild card spot for themselves. The St. Louis Cardinals have a record of 76-63. If you were asking me who would win the final two National league wild card spots I would say the Giants and Mets. According to the app “The Score”, the current division leaders are the Chicago Cubs 43-52, the Washington Nationals 86-59, Los Angeles Dodgers 81-63, the Boston Red Sox 81-63, Cleveland Indians 83-61 and finally the Texas Rangers 87-54. This year’s playoff race is going to be very close, but whomever makes it into the playoffs will have definitely deserved it.
