It's not a surprise that more and more high school students are applying for and landing part-time jobs when you consider how expensive tuition has become and how often teenagers tend to spend excessive amounts of money nowadays.
I have two jobs, which is something that I am thankful for and take a lot of pride in.

Since the 7th grade, I have worked at the Orange Canyon Girls Softball League Snack Bar. They pay minimum wage (@ $10/hour) and n cash which is tax free :) The work consists of making and handling food, dealing with transactions, restocking the shelves, and barbecuing on the weekends. The job is fun and I have gained a lot of experience, in fact I was promoted to head of the house. I am responsible for opening, closing, and supervising the other employees.

Last year, I also landed a job at Cinema City Stadium Theaters. Working at a movie theater ws similar to the tasks at the snack bar because I was cleaning, ripping tickets, directing customers, and making sure that everything under the roof runs smoothly. I am paid minimum-wage at the theater and they can provide a lot more hours than other high school jobs have to offer. I make about $80-$100 when school is in sessions and approx $250-$350 on a week when school is not in session.
Having a job or more than one as a high school student can be a great learning experinece, but you also have to learn to balance school work and work outside. It's something that will definitely benefit you in the long run.
If you want my advice, I'd say the most important factor in landing a job is having a sophisticated resume. Learning how to make a killer resume is easy and one Google search away.
I wish you all luck, Comanches.
